CHILDREN OF THE LOG CHURCH ORPHANAGE - PAGE 4

Paul Edmond, 15-year-old boy who was found in the street in 2018

The family of Edmond lived in Ngararo. This town Ngararo is bordering Kisii tribe and Maasai tribe. Our Kisii community and the Maasai entered into border wars and the Maasai burnt houses of the Kisii and killed many residents of our community who lived  at Ngararo border.

Edmond’s parents and his two siblings were killed during this war. Edmond escaped the death narrowly and came to Magena town. He passed through hard times!! Most of the days he could go without food, his clothes were ragged and he slept at Magena Bodaboda shed on the floor.

When we were doing evangelism we saw Edmond lying unconscious. The Spirit encouraged us to nature this boy. We bought him some meals and we preached to him. Surprisingly enough he accepted the Lord Jesus as his personal savior!!

Edmond requested us not to leave him helpless in the street and we decided to bring him into the orphanage. We took him to Rianyakwara primary school and he was enrolled in grade six.

Edmond is very much excited to belong to the orphanage family and he is thankful to God for using Pastor Joel to rescue his life. He is grateful for every support he receives from Pastor Donald and Vivian all the way from USA, and the church and friends in America.

Paul is praying God to bless the family of Donald and secure them with His mighty hand. It is his prayer to these loving families that they live long and see the goodness of God in the land of the living. Edmond is talented in composing songs and he has used his talent to strengthen other orphanage kids spiritually. He wants to be a Pastor after school. Thanks to Log church USA

Necomdemus Mouti, 14 year old boy found abandoned in 2018

Necodemus’ mother was a commercial sex worker. She lived in one of the rooms at exchange bar. Her family background was not known but she came to this bar in the year 2016 with her son Necodemus. This boy was enrolled at Orencho academy in grade 3, although his mother was so immoral she could  support her son  to attend school.

In the year 2017 Necodemus’ mother was hijacked at around 8pm with three men and one lady who had a black tinted car. They called themselves police officers from Igare station and claimed that there was an arrest warrant out for Necodemus’ mother. It is sad news that neighbors realized the following day that those people were not police when they visited Igare police station to know the crime of Necodemus’ mother!!

It was terrible that those people had gone with Necodemus’ mother to unknown place and this is when people came to know that Nicodemus’ mother had been hijacked!! Nicodemus was abandoned and his mother went missing to date!!!

We adopted Nicodemus to the orphanage in the year 2018 February. Nicodemus is delighted to receive care and love in the orphanage. This boy Nicodemus is very much appreciative for every support he receives through the courtesy of Pastor Donald, Vivian, the Log church USA and other well-wishers. He is a dancer in church and after school he would like to use his talent in giving God Glory. Blessings to all those who give their fund . AMEN

THE TEST OF THE SEVENTH DAY - THE LOG CHURCH SERMON, JUNE 26, 2022

The people of Israel wanted a king, and now they had one. (This was the subject of last week's sermon)
Although Samuel had warned them that choosing to live under a king was not God’s will for them and also that it was not in their own best interest. They wanted to be like the nations around them. The nations had kings to rule them, so they also wanted a king. They wanted to be like the nations.

“Listen to the voice of the people in all that they say to you” God said to Samuel. “For it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected Me as their king.”

Thus, a young man named Saul from the tribe of Benjamin became the first king. In the beginning, Saul actually looked a promising prospect to be king. First of all, he had a “kingly appearance.” We are told that he was “choice and handsome, without equal among the Israelites.” He was tall—a head taller than any of the people.

We may know that appearance is not a fair indicator of character, but admittedly, people will more readily follow a leader who has an impressive appearance rather than someone whose appearance exhibits weakness. But Saul’s physical characteristics were not the only things that made him seem like he had been a good choice for king.

In the beginning, Saul seemed to be a rather humble young man. You will remember that when he met Samuel, the prophet greeted him by saying, “And upon whom is all the desire of Israel, if not upon you and all your father’s house?”

In his humility, Saul did not react to this high praise as if it were a compliment. Rather he said, “Am I not a Benjamite from the smallest tribe of Israel, and is not my clan the least of all the clans of Benjamin? So why would you say such a thing to me?”

Then, when Saul was named king in the presence of the entire nation, he could not be found in order for Samuel to present him to the people. Like a shy and timid first-grader, Saul had hidden himself, rather than stand before the crowd.

Also, once he had been found and all recognized him as their king, Saul did not then immediately begin to take full advantage of the “rights of kingship” that Samuel had spoken of earlier. The people themselves were enthusiastic about the choice of their king, but Saul himself seemed unmoved by his sudden popularity. He did not immediately begin to plan for a palace to set up for his kingship.

All the people shouted, “Long live the king!” But Saul simply went back to his home in the unassuming town of Gibeah, where presumably, he continued his life as if nothing had changed.

It was not until his people were threatened did Saul begin to presume his role as king of the land.

CHILDREN OF THE LOG CHURCH ORPHANAGE - PAGE 3

Shadolin Mong’are, a 13 year-old girl found rejected in 2017

The name of Shadolin’s mother was known as Sheilla Kemunto. She was one of the casual workers at Ogembo tea factory. She got an access to live   in the factory premises with her daughter and later with a man who was believed to be her husband for several years.

In the year 2017 February, the mother of Shadolin collapsed and died while on duty!! After post mortem was done, the doctors discovered that it was a disease known as fatal arrhythmias!!! it is during this time  that the “so called “ husband to Sheilla denied their marriage and said that Sheilla was just but a girlfriend and they were  not legally married with her!

People suggested that maybe this man denied this intentionally in order to prevent the body of his wife from being buried in his home.  And also they sensed that he wanted to reject Shadolin as her adopted daughter: This is because the man was publicly announcing so!! He kept saying that he found Sheilla with a kid (Shadolin) and they started living together as friends and not as married couples!!

By the fact that the deceased was homeless the body was buried in the cemetery and this young girl Shadolin was left hanging around   without any consideration to her from anyone!!

Pastor Vincent and our church elders were among the guests who attended the funeral and after they witnessed a total rejection to Shadolin by her “so called father” and none was volunteering to adopt Shaldolin and it was evening time they brought this girl to the orphanage and explained the situation. We sat down as leaders the following morning and eventually accepted Shaolin to be part of the orphanage kids.

Shadolin was helpless but now she is receiving good care in the orphanage through the coordination of Pastor Donald and Pastor Joel. Shadolin is humbled for the good care and support he receives from pastor Donald and all the donors in connection with the Log church USA. She is praying God to Bless and protect all well-wishers  that stand with  the Kenya Log orphanage .  She is talented in singing and composing new songs. She has a passion to become an artist after school.

Yvonne Akuma, 16 year-old girl found in 2019 as internal refugee of post election
violence

Yvonne was raised by a single mother known as Lillian Bosibori in place called Kiango. The mother Lillian was homeless but initially worked with a private sector known as clay works in Nairobi. However, when she was released from that work, she came to this place called Kiango, a border town of the Kisii tribe and the Maasai. She was 19 years old.

In this border town of Kiango, she started a business of selling clothes. She later gave birth to Yvonne when she was at the age of 21 while still living in this place. She was living in a rental house with her daughter Yvonne.

It is sad news that during post-election violence that took place in the year  2017-2018, Yvonne‘s dear mother was killed by the Maasai solders while on her way from the market together will other 3 Kisii women!!. They were slaughtered mercilessly to death!!!

The solders escaped after committing these brutal killings! The corpse of the deceased was buried in the cemetery. Yvonne‘s mother died at the age of 34 years while her daughter Yvonne was at the age of 13 years then.

One of the Masaai woman adopted Yvonne to her home and Yvonne stayed there for only 1 year and in January the year 2019 this Good Samaritan passed away after suffering from high blood pressure!! She left Yvonne and her two elderly daughters who were not married that they stayed with in their home.

Terribly the daughters of this woman immediately chased away Yvonne from their home after burial of their mother. We found Yvonne desperate and homeless in January 2019. We sympathized with her situation and decided to bring her to the orphanage.

Yvonne is greatly happy   to be in the orphanage premises she remembers a time when she was hopeless and none could consider helping her  from her horrible situation at that time. She is very much thankful  for  pastor Joel and pastor Donald  because of  having a vision of starting log orphanage here in Kenya.

Now Yvonne has a lot of hope in this orphanage facility. Yvonne is much grateful to the Log church of USA that is being led by Pastor Donald and Vivian in supporting and encouraging the orphans where she is included. Yvonne likes teaching young kids during Sunday school lessons and she has a passion to become a teacher of the word of God.

Nancy Mon’gine, 14 year-old girl found abandoned in 2017

Nancy’s mother was married as a second wife to a man known as Kefa. She was married to her husband as a second wife already with Nancy who was 6 years old by then. Nancy’s mother stayed in this polygamous family for only two years and in the year 2015 she left this marriage and went to unknown place.

There were rumors that she might have gotten married to someone else but the information could not be substantiated!! Two years later the family left the rental house where they were living in Sotik town and abandoned Nancy alone in the compound. They lied to Nancy that her mother was on the way to pick her and together with her mother they can join the rest of the family later that day where they had gone.

Nancy was left joyfully waiting for her mother and the other family had gone as a means of escaping from Nancy. Nancy waited for two days and later realized it was a lie. She remained in the rental house for two weeks but nobody came for her. She started searching for her so called “father” but it was cumbersome to find him and the rest of the family!! She had been already abandoned without her knowledge!!!

Some days later she was found holding a rope with bad intentions of hanging herself in that lonely house! Wanting to die!!

She was rescued and when we heard the information we went there for prayers, upon our arrival we counseled Nancy and decided to bring her in the orphanage. She is now happy to interact with other kids in the orphanage and she is grateful to receive care and help from Pastor Donald and the church of USA in connection with Pastor Joel.

Nancy is thanking  God for  pastor Donald,  the  log  church USA and other  friends for the  hand  of support: she says that she could have died untimely but because of  pastor Joel and pastor Donald she  is existing. Glory to God for the help and support.

It is Nancy‘s sincere prayers God to stand with the families of every well-wisher   in all aspect of their lives.  She likes singing and she desire to be one of the best gospel artist in the world.

Amen and Amen.

THE BEST SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT - THE LOG CHURCH SERMON, JUNE 19 2022

Israel wanted a king. Up until that time, the only form of government in Israel was under the leadership of men and women who were appointed by God—these were called “the Judges of Israel.”

But now the nation of Israel wanted to have a king. The people said, “Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to judge us, to go out before us, and to fight our battles.”

Of course, we all know that this is not exactly how battles are won. The people do not sit in their homes while the king goes out and does the actual fighting. What the king does is raise an army from among the young men of the country, something about which the prophet Samuel warned the people would happen. In addition, the king would not only take the sons of the people to serve in the army, but for many other duties as well.

Samuel said to them, “He will take your sons and appoint them to his own chariots and horses, to run in front of his chariots. He will appoint some for himself as commanders of thousands and of fifties, and others to plow his ground, to reap his harvest, to make his weapons of war, and to equip his chariots.

“And he will take your daughters to be perfumers, cooks, and bakers. He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves and give them to his servants. He will take a tenth of your grain and grape harvest and give it to his officials and servants.

“And he will take your menservants and maidservants and your best cattle and donkeys and put them to his own use. He will take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his slaves” (1 Samuel 8:11-17 BSB).

CHILDREN OF THE LOG CHURCH ORPHANAGE - PAGE 2

Yvonne Nyabuto, 13 year-old girl found rejected in 2018

Yvonne was raised by a single mother in Mabera town. Her mother was known as Isabella. She rejected her daughter Yvonne for no reason! She could hit her and drag her often without cause! Every day she could tell her daughter Yvonne to leave her house!!

But Yvonne had nothing to do and she endured the suffering and rejection. It was on a Wednesday the year 2007 November when Isabella hit her daughter Yvonne until the neighbors were angry and they also in return captured Isabella and beat her so hard. She was beaten by mob justice for what she had done to her daughter. The mob justice was angry because Isabella had beaten her daughter Yvonne until she became unconscious and blood was coming out of her nose!!

They ordered Isabella to vacate her rental house in their town because of that vice and look for somewhere else to stay with her daughter. They also cautioned her not to reject her daughter Yvonne and stop treating her daughter in this evil manner.

Three days late Isabella left Mabera town and went to stay at Riosiri shopping center with Yvonne. Immediately they arrived in their new rental house Riosiri, Isabella totally rejected her daughter and hated her more than before!!! She never wanted to see Yvonne anymore and could not allow her step even at the door of the house. Yvonne went to the chief’s camp and reported the issue and the area chief cautioned Isabella not to mistreat her daughter Yvonne.

She came down and listened the chief and allowed her daughter to sleep in that house but sad enough the following morning Isabella disappeared from that new house to unknown place leaving only Yvonne helpless and without even food. Yvonne struggled in this house for one month facing a lot of difficulties and challenges until when we met her in a miserable situation and adopted her into the orphanage.

Her family background is not known and her mother is still missing to date! Yvonne is excited to belong to the orphanage where she receives support from Pastor Donald and friends in America, and the daily care from Pastor Joel among other leaders, this girl is really testifying about the hand of God that has totally changed her life through Pastor Donald from USA. She likes dancing to the lord in church and she wants to be artist of gospel songs and dancing as part of serving God. God bless all who help for the wonderful job!!

Mirriam Nyamwanga, 17 year-old girl, internal refugee who came to the orphanage in 2019

Mirriam was raised by a single mother known as Joyce Kerubo. Unfortunately her mother died of blood cancer and was buried in the government land at Eskimu grounds. Her mother’s family stayed on government land there, and they called this their home for many years. Joyce‘s parents died back in the year 2002 and 2003 respectively. After that, only Joyce and her brother Tom Kebati remained. Her brother had his own family but they all stayed on this piece of land.

Years later Joyce, the mother of Mirriam, suffered of blood cancer and died in the year 2014. Mirriam was left in the caring hands of his Uncle Tom Kebati until the year 2018 when post-election violence struck in Eskimu and there arose tribal clashes. In those clashes, Tom was killed along with his wife!

Mirriam and the two children of the uncle escaped the death and crossed the border to Kisii for safety. The government got upset and all the tribes who were staying at Eskimu government land were evicted. The two children of Mirriam’s uncle went their way and left Mirriam desperate in the villages!!

We found Mirriam helpless in the year 2019 and we were concerned to give her shelter, food and clothing. Hence we took Mirriam from wondering in the villages and brought her to the orphanage. Mirriam is appreciating Pastor Donald and all the American friends for their generous and continuous support. Mirriam always says that God has been faithful to bring Pastor Donald in her life. She has seen the love of God and care.

Mirriam is ever praying for pastor Donald and Joel. Mirriam is one of the praise and worship soloist in church and she likes singing to the Lord and she also want to reach the unsaved through singing and save them to the kingdom of God. God bless pastor Donald and the Log Church.

WHEN LEADERS FAIL - THE LOG CHURCH SERMON, JUNE 12

In the years leading up to the kings of Israel, first by King Saul, who was then followed by King David, Israel was ruled by a series of Judges. These were not judges in the sense of the word in which we use it today, but rather these were individuals whom God had raised up to positions of leadership to deliver the nation of Israel from the aggression of the surrounding nations. As I mentioned last week, God brought deliverance for the Israelites through each of these judges, and even some religious and moral reform.

But as I also pointed out last week, the reform never lasted. After the judge died, the people again drifted back into their old pattern of forsaking the word of God. Sometimes the reforms lasted for a short time, but at times the return to old ways happened almost immediately.

CHILDREN OF THE LOG CHURCH ORPHANAGE - PAGE 1

Because we have not seen the children of the orphanage for a very long time, I asked Pastor Joel to once again begin sending the histories and present stories of them to share on the blog. We will try to post two or three each week.

Here are the first two:

Yvonne Kibiego, 12 year-old girl found during street evangelism in 2018

We found Yvonne in Kembua Street in the year 2018 February. This girl had been in this street for six months before we meet her during evangelism. She used to live with her aunt in Kebirigo town but quit unfortunate one day Yvonne came back from school and found none in the rental house where they used to stay with her aunt!! It is said that she was raised by this aunt from childhood after her mother died.

This aunt was childless but could support Yvonne as her daughter. Yvonne was raised in this town of Kebirigo and didn’t know any relative throughout her life!!! This girl was shocked to find an empty house where they used to stay!!    She tried to inquire from neighbors what had happened but no one could tell the story, eventually one of her friends told Yvonne that her aunt migrated to a place called Kembua. Yvonne had only Kshs 150 in her pocket and she used it as bus fare to this place Kembua looking for her aunt. She could not manage to locate her aunt. Now being in a new town she found it very difficult to interact with strangers in this new town.

This is where she started a new difficult life in the street being homeless and starving without food most of the days until the 6th month of her struggle with street life when we meet her during evangelism and she demanded our attention and help. After questioning her we took a tax and travelled to Kebirigo where they used to stay with her aunt before but the result was not that good, because the rental house was still empty!!!

We decided to adopt Yvonne in the orphanage and now she has the joy of our Lord Jesus in her life. She was at the risk of being raped and ambushed in the street but now she is secure and she is cared for. Yvonne is appreciating God for the generous hand of support from Pastor Donald and she is very happy to be in log orphanage where she has been given security, provision to her needs and education. She is extremely glad for knowing to write and read.

Yvonne is one of the talented singers and wants to praise God through her talent to save the lost souls and win them to Christ. Recommendation to pastor Donald for love and support.

Sylviah Mosoti, 11 year-old girl found abandoned in 2018

Sylviah’s mother was a very careless drunkard!! She was alcohol addicted. Although she was always drunk after work, she used to support her daughter with the basic needs such as food clothing and also education. But the house rent was a serious challenge for her to settle and it had accumulated for 2 years.

They were in conflicts with the landlord for the accumulated rent debt. One day she decided to leave her child Sylviah in the home of the landlord with an excuse that she went to search for money somewhere that will help in clearing this accumulated rent debt. She went missing for more than seven months!! She never returned to the premises!

The landlord was now impatient and cruel enough to chase away Syliviah from her home! Sylviah became helpless, and later after months of her hustling she visited our church during Sunday service after which she told one of our ushers called Isaac about her terrible life experience!! She was given a chance to speak in front of all the believers and we were all touched and moved by her situation.

Through the sympathy and the mercies of God we could not let the girl go back to a miserable life in the street but we retained her and took her to the orphanage facility. On the following morning our two church elders went with her to the landlord to know the story and they came up with the very same information from the landlord.

We opted to allow Syliviah stay with other kids in the orphanage and now she is ever smiling for the provision she gets and the love in the orphanage facility. She has hope of finishing school through Pastor Donald, she never knew that she will live with hope but through Pastor Donald and good friends from a very far country God has manifested to her life. She has a passion of becoming a teacher by the grace of God. Thank you very much pastor Donald and Glory be to God almighty

THE MOVEMENT FROM GOD TO GOVERNMENT - THE LOG CHURCH SERMON, JUNE 5, 2022

We have seen that the first three chapters of the book of First Samuel are largely dedicated to the events leading up to the birth of Samuel, then followed by his birth itself, and lastly to his dedication in the House of the Lord where he lived and ministered to the Lord. That is where Samuel grew into a young man. Samuel was to be the last of the series of judges that led the people of Israel in those days.

God brought deliverance from the enemies of Israel through each of these judges, and even some religious and moral reform. But the reform never lasted. As the author of the book of Judges summarizes in chapter two:

Israel did not listen to their judges. Instead, they prostituted themselves with other gods and bowed down to them. They quickly turned from the way of their fathers, who had walked in obedience to the LORD’s commandments; they did not do as their fathers had done.

Whenever the LORD raised up a judge for the Israelites, He was with that judge and saved them from the hands of their enemies while the judge was still alive; for the LORD was moved to pity by their groaning under those who oppressed them and afflicted them.

But when the judge died, the Israelites became even more corrupt than their fathers, going after other gods to serve them and bow down to them. They would not give up their evil practices and stubborn ways. (Judges 2:17-19 BSB)
