TOUR OF THE LOG CHURCH ORPHANAGE, KISII KENYA

Pastor Joel walked around the orphanage grounds a bit and gave a little tour of the orphanage grounds. Not included in this video is the dormitory for the boys, the water collection system, the garden and the building of the school in progress, plus a few other things.
Nevertheless, the video gives you a little idea of what the orphanage is like.
The needs continue for food and school costs, but the Lord is faithful!

TO SERVE THE CHURCH - THE LOG CHURCH SERMON, AUGUST 27

Part One

For a great many years, I have worked with churches. I have served them in many capacities and in many ways. It has always been a great privilege for me to do so. I do not mean to say that it has always been easy, as any who are involved in some position in a church know by their own experience.

It has always been a privilege for me to work with churches, but I would be less than truthful to say that it has always been a pleasure. There are some hard times, and there are some frustrating times, but we should never lose sight of the fact that it is a great honor and privilege to be a servant of the church.

The Apostle Paul also worked with churches. As it is for us today, there were also some difficult times for Paul. In some of his writings, Paul breaks down his exterior and allows us to see his heart:

“I have been on frequent journeys,” he says, “in dangers from rivers, dangers from robbers, dangers from my countrymen, dangers from the Gentiles, dangers in the city, dangers in the wilderness, dangers on the sea, dangers among false brethren; I have been in labor and hardship, through many sleepless nights, in hunger and thirst, often without food, in cold and exposure” (2 Corinthians 11:26-27 NAS).

These are hardships. These are things that any soldier must endure. I thought of these verses one night as I sat alone for long hours in an airport in Colombia waiting for the morning. I had just been robbed of my passport and most of my money.

“I have been on frequent journeys,” I said to the empty chairs surrounding me, “dangers, dangers, dangers.”

AND GOD FELL SILENT - WORDS TO AN APOSTATE NATION: THE LOG CHURCH SERMON, SEPT 3

The first sentence in the book of Hebrews tells us that God has spoken to us at many times and in many ways. Throughout history, God has spoken to us through his creation in all that he has made, and he has spoken to us through his own words. These words were given to us by his prophets, as well as by the written word.

To those people who are open to receive his words, God reveals himself in stages and in manners that are increasingly personal so that we can come to know him better. The greater our interest in hearing his message to us, the more personal his words and communication become.

Unfortunately, most people have not learned the lessons of seeing God’s message in the creation.

REPORT FROM KENYA - THE NEW CHICKEN PROJECT

For the past week the orphanage has been out of food. “It has been challenging,” Pastor Joel
wrote to me.  “We have been using sometime black tea to sustain the kids with strength to walk to school.”

FROM TODAY'S SERVICE IN KISII

Praise God that the people of the church came and brought food for them for this day. I also heard from our partners in this work, MIPOD ministries from Illinois, are able to make a bank transfer tomorrow for $4000. This will sustain the kids for maybe a couple of weeks. I will see when Joel sends the report about the rising food prices there.

If you read the post last week that was written by the orphan child Moffat Miruka, you
learned that he and a group of five other boys have begun a poultry project at the orphanage. Moffat wrote: “In the evenings after school we look after these hens. It is our joy to see chicken hatching and multiplying gradually.”

You also saw last week that the garden is helping in providing food. I am not sure if these greens harvested from the garden gave them a little something to eat during the week, or if this was even before that time, but I am thankful that it is helping.

Please remember to pray for these children and the work there in Kisii, Kenya. Thank you also for gifts that have been given to help. God has been so good and it is a joy to see how the kids remain so thankful.

MOFFAT MIRUKA - NOTES FROM THE CHILDRENN OF THE LOG CHURCH ORPHANAGE

I am Moffat Miruka a grade Eight pupil at Rianyakwara primary school. I have been brought up in Log Orphanage located at Sengera Kisii – Kenya. I found myself in this wonderful and caring facility after my street mother died from heart attack.

Pastors of Log church have taken full responsibility of nurturing me, showing me love and care. I sincerely appreciate their efforts and commitments towards ensuring that my life as an orphan is safe and well lived. We harmoniously stay with other children and we coordinate well with each other as my brothers and sisters.

I and a group of five boys in this orphanage began a small project of poultry keeping by the help of Pastor Joel and we have been enlightened very much. In the evenings after school we look after these hens. It is our joy to see chicken hatching and multiplying gradually.

After school I will have a great opportunity of expanding this project and take it to be personal so that I can be more responsible and self-supporting. This can boost me and help me to support other homeless children in streets giving them hope and bright future. I trust God to open me doors of opportunities and develop in me a heart of helping such children in the near future. Thanks to all who sends their support and help from USA God bless you and expand your financial territories. Amen

VIOLET MOMANYI - NOTES FROM THE CHILDREN OF THE LOG CHURCH ORPHANAGE

My name is Violet Momanyi. I was brought to this Republic of Kenya as an external refuge with my mother. By then I was only four years old. It sounds quite unfortunate that later after years, my beloved mother went missing!!!

I became homeless and I decided to join street life. This was because no one could care about my life.

I really thank God almighty that in His faithfulness he connected me with pastors of Log Church/Log orphanage Kisii (Sengera). I knew them for the first time when they were doing evangelism and God touched them to bring me here in Log orphanage. I am very proud to call this orphanage ‘’HOME’’.

By the help of God I am now in high school and all my needs are being provided through the courtesy of pastor Donald of Log church USA Marquis family and other good friends. The Log church Kenya has natured well my spiritual life and upon recognizing my God given gift of singing. They supported me to produce amazing Gospel songs.

This album motivated my fellow children here at the orphanage and many have been enlightened to identify their area of calling and God given assignments.

I am very much humbled before God that people can listen to my songs and give their lives to Christ! One of my favorite song is named ‘’EBENEZER’’/ It means that this far is the Lord who has helped me. I thank all our donors .

God bless you all. Amen
