CONSTANTINE MOSOMI - NOTES FROM THE CHILDREN OF THE LOG CHURCH ORPHANAGE

My name is Constantine Mosomi. I am one of the students living here in Log orphanage Kenya. I take this opportunity to salute Log church family USA and all friends of a good will to our Kenya orphanage.

It’s my pleasure to appreciate the Lord for my life in this orphanage. This is a place where I have been taught a lot more especially concerning God’s kingdom. I have also learnt about my responsibilities as a teenage boy such as looking after cows, keeping hens and garden work.

My experience together with other children in Log orphanage has enabled me to appreciate everyone around, to love and accept them despite all the struggles and challenges in their lives.

Right now, I have a very big heart and I would do anything to help anyone when I go out of this facility in the near future after I am done with my education. I will use my resources to look after the orphans, vulnerable kids and the less fortunate in the society.

I am very much favored to be in Log orphanage home and I am very much humbled.

God almighty bless all our donors. Hallelujah.

BROKEN AND POURED OUT - THE LOG CHURCH SERMON, AUGUST 20

Not many days before he was to be crucified, Jesus was a guest at a home in the village of Bethany, a place not far from Jerusalem. The house was that of one Simon, a man who had previously been a leper but must have been healed some time before, presumably by Jesus. The man was actually still called “Simon the Leper.”

It would be interesting to talk with Simon the leper to see what he thought of this moniker. Did he wish that people would dispel with the leper part and just call him by his name: Simon? After all, he no longer had leprosy.

I have also wondered this about the Old Testament woman Rahab, who had been delivered out of prostitution. Even into the New Testament some fifteen hundred years after she lived, this woman is still called “Rahab the harlot” (Hebrews 11:31 James 2:25). Would she have wished these writers would not have included the harlot part when referring to her? Especially since, not only had she stopped being a prostitute, but also, as the story turned out, she eventually would be part of the line of heritage from whom Jesus Christ would be born.

These are among the questions that I want to ask these historical figures when I meet them one day. I wonder if instead of wanting people to drop these words as part of their names, they perhaps instead considered these titles a constant reminder of the conditions from which they were delivered.

GRANTED THE FREEDOM TO REPENT - THE LOG CHURCH SERMON, AUGUST 13

In the teaching of Jesus and the early apostles, there is no other concept more important than that of repentance. As important as it is however, most people do not have a clear idea of what is involved with repentance. I would be interested to know what your thoughts were when you hear the word, “repent!”

I do not know if it is a fair representation, but I wonder if a fair number of people think simply of a loud and brash preacher pounding on the pulpit and telling the people, “Repent!” Accompanying this command is a sermon focused on trying to make the listeners feel guilty about the sin in their lives.

To be fair, a feeling of contrition is a part of repentance. If we do not have a sense of guilt about the evil in our lives, we will not know what it is to repent. And if we do not know repentance, we cannot receive forgiveness. For unrepentant people, there can be no eternal change in their lives. They will live with evil and they will die with evil. In fact, without repentance, their eternity will be only evil with no remnant of goodness left in them and for them.

This being said however, there is much more involved with repentance. Repentance is, in fact, a very rich word and concept.

NOTES FROM THE CHILDREN OF THE LOG CHURCH ORPHANAGE - DEBORAH NYANCHERA

My name is Deborah Nyanchera. I am living a pleasant life here in Log Orphanage found in Kisii – Kenya. It gives me happiness to mention all the benefits I have encountered in this orphanage:

I have been provided with shelter, food, clothing, education and medication when needed. My life here in Log Orphanage is highly secure and well protected. I have great opportunities of interacting with other children who are orphaned as well.

Here in the orphanage we have fun days which I like very much and during December holidays. We visit new places where we learn more about nature and God’s creation such as wild animals. Honor, praise and Glory to God for everything.

I am Nancy Mong’ina. I have grown up in Log Orphanage situated in Sengera (Kisii-Kenya).

I joined here when I was unexpectedly abandoned by my parents. In this orphanage we are well cared for, we are fed with good and healthy cooked meals. I have also learnt to help out in kitchen work.

"I AM NOT WORTHY. I AM NOT WORTHY" - THE LOG CHURCH SERMON, AUGUST 6

Today’s topic is a difficult one for me, because there is so much about it that I do not understand. Frankly, there are many aspects about this subject that are unclear even in the teachings of Scripture.

The topic is that of healing and of praying for the healing of the sick.

Most Bible teachers, when writing or speaking on this subject, will usually center it on the need for faith. And faith is important. The New Testament writer James says that “the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick. The Lord will raise him up” (James 5:15).

But having faith is actually not the first step in praying for healing. There is something that comes even before faith, something that is critical for us to understand. I will come to that important step a little later.

But first I need to say that there is yet another reason that praying for healing is such a difficult subject. This difficulty comes because there is so much mis-information out there in our popular culture. There are many charlatans who feed on the misfortune and desperation of those seeking healing in their lives and in the lives of family members or of friends.

NOTES FROM THE CHILDREN OF THE LOG CHURCH ORPHANAGE - PAUL EDMOND

My name is Paul Edmond. I am very much grateful to be in Log Orphanage located in Kisii -Sengera.

I was once a street boy after my parents and two siblings were brutally killed during 2017 post-election violence. Later on pastor Joel took me from the street and brought me into this beautiful home! This is where I was enrolled in grade six and now I am delighted to be in high school.

Log orphanage has provided me with care, love, protection and support. My life in the street would have been very bad and miserable. I am sure by now I could be drug addicted, a thief and a perpetrator in the street. I thank God that now I am a gospel artist and by the grace of God I have been enabled to produce my first song album through the help of our Log Church members Kisii – Kenya.

I am determined to use my talent in spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ around the globe. Also I am trying as much as possible to raise and train more teenagers within Log Orphanage in the gospel artist industry.

I kindly ask the church to pray and support the orphaned across the world. Amen.
