KISII REPORT - DAY 9—NO FOOD

God has put me in a position that I did not seek and did not want, but I am privileged to be blessed with being part of trying to make a better life for these children of a poor area of Kenya. The needs are great, they are constant—and the solutions are not cheap. Every time I visit a grocery store here, I am dismayed at how economical our food is in comparison with the prices in Kisii, Kenya.

The orphanage runs out of food quite consistently, and the children know what it is to have no food for some days on end, but this is the longest stretch that I am aware of—nine days.

From what I understand, on some of those days they eat nothing at all—only water. On other days, they have been given some maize flour, which they boil with the water to make a thin porridge. Usually they are limited to one glass per day.

I pray to God constantly for these children, and Vivian and I are doing what we are able to do. Some of you also are. Thank you.

If you choose to also respond to this need, please do not do it based only upon an emotional reaction, but calmly ask God if you are also to be part of the lives of these children. Like me, you may not want to do it, but you do it in response to what God is telling you to do.
