KISII REPORT - THIRD TERM SCHOOL

The cattle are from our Wisconsin farm
The goldenrod is in bloom in Northern Wisconsin. When I was growing up, this was always a reminder to me that school was soon to begin. For me as a kid, it was an unhappy reminder, but it is not so for everyone.

School is about to begin also in Kenya. The kids at the Log Church Orphanage are happily looking forward to being able again to go to schoolthe same as every other child.

The Kenyan school years is arranged differently than ours. In Kenya, the school year begins in January, and there are three school terms to the year. Each of these terms are three months long, and separated by a month of vacation. August was a holiday month, so September begins the next three-month term. It is their final school term of 2019.

Every month costs the orphanage something over $1000 to send all the kids to school. It sounds like a lot, and of course it is. Everything is when you multiply by 42. That is the number of children in the orphanage that we hope to send to school. It actually comes to just over $25 per month for every student.

We are very thankful that we were able to meet all the costs last term. The schools where the children attend were gracious toward us, and allowed the orphans to attend classes even though we had not been able to pay the fee. But as the term progressed, we were able to slowly cover the costs of the term.

Pastor Joel sent to me the letters of thanks from the secondary (high school) orphans. They are so thankful to be able to go to school, and of course they hope to be able to complete the year, and complete their secondary education. This is a dream that, some years ago, they thought that they would never see.
