KISII ORPHANAGE - MANAGING THE FUNDS

Trying to manage the funds that are given for the orphans is sometimes very difficult. There
are three basic costs that we try to cover.

The first of these and the highest priority fund is for all the food and other daily needs for the children.

The second is the school fees for the children. The new school term began on Monday. It will run until the 23rd of December. The total cost for all of fees for all our children is $5115 for this term.

The third fund is for the school that we are building on the orphanage. This is actually the lowest priority but important none-the-less. It a long-term project, and of course a very costly project.

As you can read in Joel’s letter below, we recently ran into a shortage of food for the
children because we needed to buy a large amount of building materials so that we could begin construction of the school. We rarely (almost never) know week-by-week how much money we will have for the next week or two. We simply have to trust God to provide.

When the food runs out, the staff and kids pray and fast. They seek the Lord. Pastor Joel tells the children, “I do not know why God has chosen not to provide food for this day, but it is the path he has chosen for us.”

Praise God that he did provide, and we were able to send last week. The breakdown for the food purchased is below, after Joel’s letter:
