At the moment, the small tank is in place on the tower, the pump has been purchased, along with the sprinklers and everything needed to put the irrigation in place for the garden. But ironically, the irrigation work has been delayed a few days because of heavy rains.
This change in weather patterns was also the cause for the
locust invasion, which if you remember, was also taking place about this time last
year. The locusts are still in the northern part of the country, but the
government has conducted a vigorous spraying campaign, so the numbers are
greatly reduced.
Concerning the completion of the irrigation and water
system, the rains have now let up in the past couple of days, so it is our hope
that in the coming week all may be installed so that planting can take place. They
did not want to plant beforehand, since installing the pipes would disrupt too
much of the garden soil.
