COMPLETION OF THE FIRST PART OF THE WATER SYSTEM

Below is a letter with photos that I received today from Pastor Joel. It shows the completed water collection system up to this point (phase 1). We next need to install the smaller tank on the tower. I have been asking Joel why they could not simply water the garden by gravity from the large tank, as I show in the graph of a few blog posts ago.

The answer is that it would serve for part of the garden, but the tower would provide the needed pressure to water the entire plot. I have some more questions about this, but these will be answered in time. It is sometimes difficult for me to get a clear mental picture of
what is happening there, since I cannot remember exactly the topography where the garden will be.

But we will be going ahead with this second phase by installing a smaller 2000 liter tank on
a tower that will be constructed out of cement columns. The cost of this is about $300 for the tank, $200 for the materials for the tower, and $100 for labor. The tank will be 10-15 feet in elevation from the ground level.

We will also be needing the pump, but first we will install the tank. If I remember correctly, the pump was to cost about $500.
