The Log Church Bulletin

Happy Resurrection Day!

April 4, 2021

Opening Song

Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place,

I can feel His mighty power and his grace.

I can hear the brush of angel’s wings, I see glory on each face.

Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place.

Call to Worship

On Good Friday we talked about the crucifixion of Jesus. But it was not only about His crucifixion. It was also about our own crucifixion. “We have been crucified with Christ.”

Yesterday, on Holy Saturday, we were instructed to leave that which we crucified in the grave, just as Jesus lay dead on that day.

But today is Sunday. It is Resurrection Sunday. He is risen!

Amen! He is risen indeed!

Song of Worship        #137 – Christ the Lord Is Risen Today

Invocation Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for the fact of the resurrection of Jesus. Though His life, we know that we can also live. On this day, let us rejoice! We need no longer be slaves to sin. We have been given the freedom to live in grace. Thank you Jesus! Amen.

Announcements

Selected Reading – 1 John 5:18-20

We know that anyone born of God does not keep on sinning; Jesus, who was born of God protects him, and the evil one cannot touch him.

We know that we are of God, and that the whole world is under the power of the evil one.

And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true—in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

Prayer of Confession

Our gracious Heavenly Father, on this day we rejoice! We rejoice because you have shown us the way to life. In the world we know only death. But in You, we have come to know that you give us eternal life. Thank you Jesus. Amen

Words of Assurance

In the Bible we read, “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come! (2 Corinthians 5:17)

As Christ has risen to a new life, so you also may rise from the dead. Only place your faith in Him!

Song of Faith – #138 – Christ Arose

Scripture Reading

OT – Isaiah 41:10-13

Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not be afraid, for I am your God.

I will strengthen you. I will also help you, I will also uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Behold, all those who are angered at you will be shamed and dishonored;

Those who contend with you will be as nothing and will perish.

You will seek those who quarrel with you, but will not find them,

Those who war with you will be as nothing and non-existent.

For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand,

Who says to you, “Do not fear, I will help you.”

NT – Romans 12:1-2

I urge you, brothers, on account of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.

Responsorial Reading Psalm 119:1-8

Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the Law of the LORD.

Blessed are those who keep His testimonies and seek Him with all their heart.

They do no iniquity; they walk in His ways.

You have ordained Your precepts, that we should keep them diligently.

Oh, that my ways were committed to keeping Your statutes!

Then I would not be ashamed when I consider all Your commandments.

I will praise You with an upright heart when I learn Your righteous judgments.

I will keep Your statutes. Do not utterly forsake me.

Message           How to Live (It Takes a Death to Learn How to Live)

The Lord’s Prayer

Song of Unity   #17 – Shine, Jesus Shine

Communion – If you are visiting with us today as a believer in Jesus Christ as the Savior of your life and your soul, and you understand the importance of Jesus sacrificing his life so that you may live eternally, please feel free to join us in this most intimate of customs given to us by Jesus. You are of the family of God, and all in the family are welcome to share this meal with us.

Offering    Please notice that a basket has been provided at the entrance of the church to receive your offering. Thanks and God bless you!

Prayer of Intercession

Our gracious Father, we thank you for your presence with us today and always. On this Resurrection Sunday, we thank you for the life that you offer. But we also realize that there are many who do not know that life. To these, “religion is a trap.” Please open their eyes so that they can see that you are not offering religion. You are offering true freedom. A freedom that they will never know in the world.

We pray for the hurting and we pray for the sick. We pray for those who are struggling to make payments and to even put food on the table for their family.

We pray for our orphans in Kenya. Thank you for providing for them and sustaining them. They pass some days each month without food, but they remain thankful. Please bless them. Guide them into the future, since in the world they will have few options. Thank you also that we have lately seen some additional blessings come to them so that they can begin to raise their own vegetables.

We continue also to pray for our nation. We pray that instead of looking to “get back to normal,” we would try to understand how we have failed in following after righteousness. We do not want the world calls “normal.” We want what you call freedom in Jesus.

We pray for our own Log Church of Tripoli. Please guide us as are trying to determine what are the best things to do in these continuing days of the pandemic. Direct us, and protect us. We ask that you place a hedge of protection around each person of our fellowship.

We pray also for the two Log Churches of Kisii in Kenya. They meet and worship together with restrictions. Help them to navigate through these difficult times and please provide for their needs.

Thank you for your gracious answer to all of our prayers.

Thank you Father, for listening to the voices of all of your servants. Amen

Closing Song    #132 – He Lives
