Opening Song

Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place,
I can feel His mighty power and his grace.
I can hear the brush of angel’s wings, I see glory on each face.
Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place.

Call to Worship
In these days of the coronavirus, people are waiting for life to return to normal. The news of TV is talking about the development of the vaccine. Many are placing their hope in this, thinking that a vaccine will help us to return to a “normal” life. I sincerely hope that it will help, but God does not want us to be content with “normal.” He wants to give us the extraordinary.

We come this morning to worship the One who is leading us through these difficult days. As we learn to navigate through these times, we know that the directions that God provides are the ones that will lead us to a life that is beyond all that we can ask or even envision.

Invocation Prayer

Our Father in heaven, in these days there are many who are advising us and giving their opinions of how we should proceed with our lives. Some of the advice that we are given may be worth listening to, and other advice is not worth our efforts to listen. But we have come to church this morning to listen to you. We want to hear what You have to say to us. We pray that you will help each one of us to listen to Your advice for these times. Amen

Song of Worship #17 – Shine Jesus, Shine

Selected Reading       Romans 16:25-27

Now to Him who is able to strengthen you by my gospel and by the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery concealed for ages past but now revealed and made known through the writings of the prophets by the command of the eternal God, in order to lead all nations to the obedience that comes from faith—to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ!

Prayer of Confession

Merciful God, although our prayer is that you would give us the wisdom and the strength to grow in our walk with you, we confess that we fail many times. Our prayer this morning is that you will help each one of us to focus our thoughts and concentration on what you have to say to us in the service today. Help us to listen to your voice, spoken to us inwardly by your Holy Spirit. We thank you in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Words of Assurance

Navigating through the days in which we live has seldom been as difficult as it is in these days. But we can rest in the assurance that God is there to help us. If we learn to listen, he is there every day to direct us. If you have not lately been listening for his voice, you can begin today. You can begin right now.

The Lord’s Prayer

Song of Faith #29 – Grace Like Rain

Scripture Reading: OT – Isaiah 46:10-11
I declare the end from the beginning,
And from ancient times things which have not been done,
Saying, ‘My purpose will be established,
And I will accomplish all My good pleasure’;
Calling a bird of prey from the east,
The man of My purpose from a far country.
Truly I have spoken; truly I will bring it to pass.
I have planned it, surely I will do it.

NT – Revelation 22:13
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”

Responsorial Reading : From Jeremiah 29 and Hebrews 11:6

For this is what the LORD says: “I will attend to you and confirm My promise to restore you to this place.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope.

Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.

You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

I will be found by you, declares the LORD, and I will restore you from captivity and gather you from all the nations.

I will restore you to the place from which I sent you into exile.

Without faith it is impossible to please him.

Whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Song of Unity #30 – Come to Jesus

Communion – If you are visiting with us today as a believer in Jesus Christ as the Savior of your life and your soul, and you understand the importance of Jesus sacrificing his life so that you may live eternally, please feel free to join us in this most intimate of customs given to us by Jesus. You are of the family of God, and all in the family are welcome to share this meal with us.

Offering  Please notice that a basket has been provided at the entrance of the church to receive your offering. Thanks and God bless you!

Also, on the first Sunday of each month, we have an offering for what we call “Lori’s Fund” or “Change for Change.” This second one is where we give our loose pocket change to give to those who are going through extraordinary times of need. In this manner, the church is usually able to give $50 or $100 a month to an individual or family going through an especially difficult time. The tin container is for you to put this change.

Prayer of Intercession

God of all guidance, we look for your directions this morning. There is seldom a week that passes by when we are not confronted with some new difficulty. We are grateful that you are always willing to hear what is troubling us, and waiting to help us.

Thank you also for supporting us in our daily needs. We thank you for the food on our tables and the roofs over our heads. Thank you for our clean air and water, and thank you for life itself.

We pray for our nation, our government leaders. In these days of our election cycle, help us to sift through all the hype, attacks and counterattacks to hear your direction. Most of all, we pray that we, the people of this nation, would realize our need for you.

We pray for those of our own neighborhood who are in need of a word and a touch from you. We pray also for those of our own families who need you. They may not even be looking to you for direction or for help, but we pray that your Holy Spirit would lead them to you.

Along with these unknown needs are many of those in our church and children in Kenya. We pray for the health and spiritual needs of the people there. We pray for the locust situation and covid restrictions in that country which continues to drive up food availability and prices. Please give these people some relief from their testings.

Thank you for your gracious answer to all of our prayers.

Thank you Father, for listening to the voices of all of your servants.
